Since this is one of the, by far, easiest games to reveiw, I suppose I should make it my first review on this board.

When I got Portal, I expected somekind of psycotic freak ordering me around until the end when I espaped the scientific, then the game ends and I feel no freedom, simply because, as much as I loved the game, the sudden ending and lack of a sequel ( I hear they are making a Portal 2 as we speak, but how would that play out? ). The ending was a cliffhanger and at the same time provided much closer.

Your goals in the game are -

Complete Puzzles to soften the AI up for a sudden blow ( CHECK! )
Gain Freedom ( CHECK! )
Eat Cake! ( I so wish I could say check... )
Use Freedom! ( Not Check )

The whole point of completing the puzzles and gaining freedom provides closer, but at the same time the lack of cake and the inability to use that freedom is a little cliffhangerish.

The point I am trying to make here is that, the game itself is great, but at the same time, the ending was a bit vauge. Also the fact that you know nothing of your characters back story makes it a bit...crude...first off, you start the game by waking up in a bathroom with a bed in it while some music is playing. I do not know HOW you ended up there, so I like to imagine I was out on a quest to make millions, and then I become a billionair and Aperture Science stole my money and took me prisoner so that I couldn't tell anyone. Then, after a complete minute after you wake up, a portal opens near you and you realize that you need to solve a series of puzzles using portals, hence the name. Now, using the concept of portals, alot of the puzzles are solved like this:

U = the person you play as, () = portal, _____ = Floor if I can play it out how I want, I guess | can = wall and - = cieling.

|_______ --- > You then make a portal on the lower flour, and another portal on the wall behind you but sticking out for the cieling:

|_()_ --- > You the fall into the lower portal, and using that speed, you can rocket out the other:

______(cant jump that high : / )

This occurs alot, and if not solved like that, solved like this:

|_()_|_____(Goal) ---> But because you still have yet to go high enough, you spawn another Portal on the ground as you fall....

There you have! A great game, 5/5 Stars, 10/10, 100000 Microsoft Points, Fantastic, Great Game, derserving of the title Best Game of 08'!
